Can You Take Your Time With Cancer?

When my Grandfather was suffering in tremendous pain from the chemotherapy and radiation treatments he was receiving, I, like most people, felt hopeless and helpless. I knew there was a better way, but I didn’t know what to do or what to say, because I was afraid.

I was afraid because I was uneducated about cancer. I knew there were natural and holistic solutions, but I hadn’t done much research about cancer at that point, so while I wanted to help him, I simply didn’t know what to do.

My grandfather passed away in 2013, and following his death, I began a comprehensive journey to learn everything I could about preventing and healing cancer. 

I interviewed hundreds of experts, cancer survivors, and doctors. I produced conferences, published magazines, organized summits and dove deep into the research around not only how to prevent and reverse cancer, but to better understand what cancer is, and why we get it.

The first most important conclusion I came to understand in this journey is that cancer is completely natural. It’s not something you catch like a cold or a flu. It’s not contagious. And it’s not something that necessarily needs to be cut or burned out of your body either. It’s actually protecting your body from worse circumstances.

In my documentary film The Integrative Perspective, Wade Lightheart, a 3-time all-natural bodybuilding champion says:

“… a lot of people look at cancer as a disease or something to be avoided as opposed to looking at it that it’s just a natural result of a set of conditions. And if you alter those conditions, it’s quite possible to alter the result.”

What Wade means by that is that cancer is completely natural, and we all have it going on inside our bodies at any given time. Cancer is the natural result of our lifestyle choices. Too much stress, processed food, negative thinking, animal products, sedentary lifestyle, GMOS, processed sugar and disconnection from a clean natural environment are all direct causes of cancer.

In the Global Cancer Symposium, Dr. Thomas Lodi, MD(H), FICT, DAARFM, CNS, founder of An Oasis of Healing says: 

“Cancer is a natural reaction of the body to a particular set of circumstances… Cancer occurs when a cluster of cells lose the ability to use oxygen when it’s burning glucose for fuel… cancer is the body’s attempt to stay alive in spite of the loss of oxygen. 

The body’s imperative is to regenerate, rejuvenate and procreate. Cancer is protecting and maintaining the functional integrity of the organism and (cancer) is not the enemy – what we need to do is work on and eliminate the reason why the body had to become cancerous in the first place.”

In the Conquering Cancer Summit, multiple experts discuss what causes cancer in the body and what you can do to eliminate those causes from your life. While I won’t go deeper into the causes and solutions in this article, I do want to get the point across that cancer is not something to be feared once you understand what it is, why you have it, and what you can do about it.

The most common experience people have when receiving a cancer diagnosis is to immediately be filled with fear, both by the innate fear of the unknown as well as the oncologist stimulating fear within you by rushing you into treatment options, with the fear of death looming if you don’t do something immediately.

The truth is that if you just received a cancer diagnosis, the general consensus is that you have had cancer forming in your body for at least 7 years, or longer. So why would you immediately have to rush into treatment? 

If you’ve gotten along for the past 7+ years with cancer in your body, what’s the harm in spending a few weeks or a months educating yourself about all the cancer treatment options available to you and getting 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions? 

Seeing a Holistic doctor, an Integrative doctor, an Ayurvedic doctor, and a Chinese medicine doctor in addition to your oncologist are all great examples of educating yourself about treatment options. 

In my opinion, building a team of health and healing experts to support you on your journey is the first aspect of your healing process. Taking some time to reflect, calm your nervous system, and choose the best approach you feel most called towards without being pressured by fear tactics will allow you a greater chance, not only for a better quality of life, but for an opportunity to awaken to a deeper purpose and potential in your life you may have not yet been in touch with.

If you approach cancer from the perspective that it’s a natural result of lifestyle choices, and it’s something you’ve been creating in your body for many years, then you can be empowered to learn how to change your lifestyle choices, only using medical intervention if absolutely necessary.

I’m not saying cancer is not serious, it clearly is, and sometimes surgery or chemotherapy is necessary – but what I am saying is that more often than not people are better off taking their time and getting more information, opinions and support from an integrative collective of health experts and doctors, than otherwise.

My wish for you is that whether your goal is to prevent or reverse cancer, that you have access to all the information you need to make an educated decision for your own health and healing journey. Taking advice from only one doctor who has no training in the other natural healing arts is limiting you from all the possibilities available to you.

While I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to turn my passion for health and healing into a career by helping others learn how to prevent and reverse cancer, I’m still learning new modalities and techniques for healing, and as I learn, research, and experiment with these modalities, I then share them with you. 

My point is that even though I feel confident in my ability to prevent and reverse cancer in my own body, I’m still learning new things about it all the time and because I continue educating myself I am not afraid of cancer any longer, and my wish is that we all continue learning and experiencing how to live wholesome, healthy, happy lives for generations to comes.
